Urban, underground, vibrant, and up and coming – words that could be used to describe East London’s Streetfest taking place this May bank holiday. Promising an eclectic mix of established and fresh musicians, graffiti artists, parkour and skate boarding; Streetfest 2014 looks like the place to be on the 4th of May.
Imagine a traditional English street party, such as those that took place for the royal wedding, but replace the herbal tea and cakes with DJs and live art. A celebration of East London’s urban culture is what this is all about, and with big names such as Ms Dynamite and Goldie playing alongside smaller up and coming artists in an informal setting, Streetfest promises something that you would be hard pressed find outside a major music festival.
The full lineup can be found on their website, and aside from Ms Dynamite and Goldie includes artists such as Uk hip hop group Caxton Press and grime/dubstep collective True Tiger. It’s not all about the music though, with a wide range of dance and urban arts promised as part of the street party.
Tickets are £18, or £15 as part of a group, and are available here.
