The Month In Grime – October 2017

Month In Grime - nOVEMEBER

ZHA – Material – Naan001

As the driving force behind the ever present White Peach Records, Zha takes a step outside of his primary home print to launch Naan001 with an absolute belter of a track. One of the cleanest arrangements we’ve heard this year, ‘Material’ holds it’s weight as a solo vinyl release for sure!

Neon Beats – Polar EP – Project Allout

It has become a regular occurance seeing Skillzy’s Project Allout imprint appearing on these lists, and how couldn’t it be with the amount of high quality material we see emerging. This month Neon Beats steps up with his brand new ‘Polar’ EP, featuring two heavyweight grime arrangements with three remix features from Dubzta and a special guest appearance from Russia’s own Dutty Tingz. You can preview the full project here:

Taiko – No More – White Peach

Do White Peach ever disappoint? It’s safe to say Zha’s selection process is up there with the best of them in the current grime and dubstep scene schematics. Taiko is the next release on the schedule for the White Peach brand and it’s a sizzler, with three heavyweight original compositions from the Sheffield based producer. Our favourite is without a doubt the choppy asian stylings of ‘Zen Harder’.

Dubzta x Dallen – Headshot EP

Two of Grime’s most consistent instrumental orchestrators have come together for this one on brand new grime imprint ‘Crudplate Recordings’. The pair share a creativity for original bass design and arrangement, landing them with 4 powerhouse instrumentals that have been collecting serious DJ support. Our favourite lays in the title track ‘HeadShot’ which focusses on gritty lead bass synth patterns.

Luciferian – Your Nature (Prod. by Eclypse)

The dutch prodigy Eclypse actually features twice in this month’s article. His first appearance is alongside The Collective’s own Luciferian on this wavy recording entitled ‘Your Nature’. Luciferian’s intricate lyricism and inventive vocal patterns coupled with delicately applied autotune sit perfectly atop Eclypse’s minimal yet hard hitting sound design below. This one is available for free download now!

Eclypse – Don’t Talk Crud EP – Southpoint

Now for Eclypse’s second appearance, we see him in the fold with his debut solo EP and first full release on Brighton’s own Southpoint imprint. The EP features five tracks, three of which are hard hitting original grime instrumentals. The fourth track is a high energy vocal feature from West London’s Danny Jaqq, whilst 9TRANE steps forward on remix duty on the title track ‘Don’t Talk Crud’ to great effect.

KXVU – Guinevere

It’s my article I’ll plug myself if I want tooooo. My latest release comes courtesy of Aerotonin’s ‘SimplyDeep’ imprint. I’m happy to bring you three original, orchestral arrangements with fantastic remix features from SimplyDeep regulars Hamdi and Opus. You can stream the release here:

That’s all for this month, check back next month to see what’s been going down in Grime!
