Despite our absence at the end of March, we’re very happy to bring you an extended edition of ‘The Month In Grime’ which will be showcasing the last two month’s releases. Let’s kick it off straight away with the latest release from Rapture 4D.
Rapture 4D – Unrelated Grime
Even with being crowned the new BeatBoss champion in March, Rapture4D released a solo EP, full to the brim with the wavy styles that have become synonymous with the Glasgow-based grime lord. Check them out below:
Knowledge Is Power – 10K EP
As one of the dominant grime and hip-hop powers in the midlands and the north of England, Knowledge Is Power have been working tirelessly to supply promotion and support for artists around the country. They recently hit ten thousand followers, and to celebrate they have released this super pack of tracks for free download:
Chemist RNS – Ancient EP
As one-half of Triple S, Chemist RNS has been on a roll of late. The Chameleon Audio representative has done it again with his most recent EP ‘Ancient’ which is available to stream below, showcasing his uniquely cruddy style of grime production.
Various – Definitions Vol. 2 – Durkle Disco
I’ve always been a big fan of the Durkle Disco movement and the uniquely Eskimo-esque take on grime and bass music that they release. Their latest compilation features bangers from Boycott, Daffy, Gundam, Denham Audio and Unkey, which makes it more than worth the listen!
Spooky & J Beatz – Maggie – Crown Jules
Collaboration releases are always interesting to see especially from such pillars of the scene as Spooky and J Beatz. two original collabs and two remixes make up the latest in a line of monster EP’s from the Crown Jules imprint.
Filthy Gears – The Filthtape Vol. 2 – Ghost House
We’re always excited to see a new batch of tracks pop up from Filthy Gears, who is earning the reputation of one the UK’s most consistently cruddy producers. His work rate really is unmatched and that shows on his return to Spooky’s ‘Ghost House’ imprint. A total of eight tracks make up the second volume of ‘The Filthtape’ and we would highly recommend running through every track involved!
Policy – Argonne City EP
After a quiet spell at the start of 2017, Policy has relaunched himself in spectacular form with the release of his ‘Argonne City’ EP via his personal Bandcamp page. Every track is a straight up monster, especially the breaky sounds of ‘Nu Planet’ and straight up tear out vibes of ‘Metro City’. Check it out here:
Maniac – Homecoming
Maniac is without a doubt one of the few grime producers to already be sitting at legendary status. After a long absence, he has returned with his ‘Homecoming’ EP and it doesn’t disappoint one bit, featuring four originals which all build on Maniac’s signature style, but which sound as up to date and relevant as anything being released right now. You can purchase the release via iTunes HERE!
KXVU – Sweet Inna Dance EP
Self-plug time. Thanks for Project Allout for hosting and releasing my latest EP ‘Sweet Inna Dance’ which features three originals, a high energy collab with Dubzta and remixes from my STPT brothers Pavv and Reeko West.
Available to purchase here:
And that’s it for the last two months. We will be back at the end of May to see what else has been popping in the grime scene!
