As we look forward to the summer, people nationwide are gearing up for festivals up and down the country. But we’re looking a bit closer to home: Redhill will once again play host to Redfest from July 25th to the 26th. The small yet exciting festival has been going since 2007, and has featured some huge names including Ed Sheeran and Laura Marling!
Over the course of the weekend you’ll be treated to the likes of Skindred, Slaves, Baby Godzilla, Peace and Jaws. Tickets for the weekend (or just day tickets) are available from the ticket page on the Redfest website!
Redfest focuses on exciting breakthrough acts, as well as some pretty big names that haven’t been around long, and that’s what we love to see! Their “Introducing Stage” this year is backed with some amazing newcomers. One particular band we’re looking forward to seeing are Brighton favourites High Tyde, who have been makes ripples in the Brighton music scene since they formed back in 2012.
Dizraeli and the Small Gods are another great act that should light up the Introducing Stage over the weekend! The hip-hop group, led by Dizraeli, are going from strength to strength at the moment so they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on! Finally, another two acts that you definitely shouldn’t miss on the Introducing Stage are La Shark and As Elephants Are – the latter has recently released an EP called “Hand Prints” which is well worth a listen!
Headlining the main stage on Friday will be Skindred, a fairly heavy outfit hailing from Newport. Expect to see a wild performance from Skindred as they’ll be carrying momentum from their European tour which their set at Redfest is right in the middle of!
Moving on to the Saturday and things get even better! Peace, probably one of the best bands in 2013, will be strutting their stuff when they headline the main stage. The four-piece have been gigging a lot recently, including a secret show in Brighton as part of The Great Escape Festival; Peace’s live shows are known for being highly electrifying. Expect to see new material from them, including their new single “Money”, as well as stuff from their highly acclaimed album “In Love” which featured in our “Albums of the Year” article late last year.
Headliners aside, the line-up features some very strong acts, Bristol-band Coasts are one of these acts. With a style that varies from down tempo to upbeat, they sure know how to put on a live performance; tracks like “Golden City” and “See How” outline how diverse their style is.
Another strong outfit, Jaws, are set to impress when they bring their dreamy style down from the Midlands to Redfest on the Friday. Have a listen to their song “Gold” here!
With all these fantastic new acts, Redfest 2014 is going to be a great weekend, see you there!
