After a lot of hard work, Orca has finally dropped his new, and very refreshing, EP entitled “Rain Machine”
When talking about this EP there’s no need to over describe it, it’s very good. It’s soothing yet strangely energising at the same time, throughout the EP a variety of skills are on display, making this a real treat from Orca.
On his SoundCloud page he mentions that he spent 6-8 months developing the EP, it shows. Each track is quite different from the other, showing his versatility as a producer, but the same time as keeping the relaxing feel the EP gives off on the first track.
Considering everyone and their dog seems to be a producer these days, “Rain Machine” isn’t just some half arsed attempt at production. You can hear the attention to detail in this EP, from the soothing tones in “Canopy” to the vitalising, Ratatat-like use of strings in “Flicker Pt II”.
On balance, a very good EP, its ambience is a pleasant change to all the drum and bass, trap and deep house producers have been releasing this year.
You can download “Rain Machine” for free on BandCamp and/or stream it on his SoundCloud (below). Do both.
