176453_10151224296944417_1697615420_oOne Love is a reggae festival that has been running since 2008, but changes it’s location regularly to try and find the heart of the UK reggae and dub scene, with a perfect backdrop for such an event. The festival is also a celebration of  Bob Marley’s concert thirty years prior to 2008 under the same name, which bared witness to the legendary musician joining hands of two opposing political parties in a time of Jamaica’s civil war. From 16th to 18th August 2013, the location will be Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Essex, with a one hundred and twenty two acre site that has all the space and remote countryside needed for a rapidly growing festival, but still with plenty of intimacy and friendliness. One Love is also easily accessibile for a festival, being only twenty minutes away on the overground train from Fenchurch Street, central London, and also based at the end of the District Line that connects the whole of London.

The line up grows each year, with a diverse range of Reggae and Dub artists and DJ’s, from Congo Natty and General Levy to SoapBox’s previously featured Kotch and Inasound. With a line up so long you have to draw for breath at least three times, One Love is quickly becoming more recognised as one of the greatest Reggae and Dub festivals to attend and stands alone as reputable, fun, friendly event that bases all of it’s key points and morals of the roots of the genre. As a festival it also wants to spread Bob Marley’s message of peace within one love, one heart. SoapBox has a lot of respect and love for this festival as it gives opportunities to DJ’s and artists to get some recognition, promotion and also gives them the chance to play a crowd their favourite music and showcase upcoming talent in the scene.

The festival has a mass of sound systems and artists that are bound to make your dreads shake and your foot stomp, tickets are on sale and dependent on when you’re reading this article, early bird tickets are available at £99 for the first tier, before progressing to the second tier for an increased price. With such a chilled atmosphere and lots to see and do, no wonder why it just keeps getting more popular with everyone whilst challenging those in a cliqué to step out of the norm and discover a welcoming world that is only there for a weekend.
