Boomtown Fair 2013 – Preview

Later this summer (August 8TH–11TH), Winchester’s Matterly Estate is once again the location for the Boomtown Fair, a unique, colourful and simply brilliant festival now entering its fifth year. This we’ll see the likes of Toots & The Maytals, Serial Killaz and Gypsy Hill rocking the fair over the weekend. Ticket tiers one through to five have sold out, however tier six tickets are still available for £154 (incl. booking fee). As expected from Boomtown, there will be a number of themes across the entire event, ranging from fancy dress to a host of different districts and venues within the fair! Have a look at their “Take a trip down Boomtown” teaser:

The 2013 Boomtown Fair looks to be a treat; a host of exceptional acts have been lined up ready to impress those lucky enough to attend this year’s event. One of the most noteworthy names on the bill are the legendary Toots & The Maytals, performing at Boomtown’s Town Centre. The ska legends, who are currently touring the world, are renowned for their fantastic live performances, they’ve released a number of live albums, the most recent being “Unplugged on Strawberry Hill” released last year. If you’re attending this year these lot are not to be missed, if you’re not attending, buy a ticket! Toots & The Maytals aren’t the only ones to look out for in The Town Centre. The heart of Boomtown will be hosting some other big names such as Arrested Development, The Neville Staple Band and The Selecter, who have released a new album this year.

Serial Killaz and Run Tingz Cru are set to make an appearance at this year’s festival. Both have recently played shows in Brighton this year and blew their crowds away with fantastic sets. Another DJ, Friction, has been impressing on the festival scene recently, make sure you don’t miss his set at Boomtown this year! Digital Mystikz are another act we’ll all looking forward to seeing, after having a very productive year in 2012, the South London duo are looking to take 2013 by storm.

There has been some great talent making its way into the spotlight recently, and Boomtown’s organisers have lined up a fair few for this year’s event. One of these talents is Ed Scissortongue, who had a very successful year last year with High Focus, and has slowly made himself a household name on the UK hip-hop scene. Expect to see a strong performance from him this year! Ed Scissortongue is just one of many UK hip-hop acts to be showcased at Boomtown 2013. Other acts include Four Owls and Dirty Dike, who has a new release out this year: Return of the Twat. Some other up and coming talents include Euphony, Buggsy and Kitten & The Hip, who are known to be very impressive on stage!
